About

I am an intensivist. When something comes up on the unit that I have to look up, I write down what I found. These pages are those notes, translated into English and left in the open.

Every note starts with what I actually thought before I looked anything up — that part is written by hand, not generated. What follows is what I found, kept close to the form I originally wrote it in. Some notes end without a conclusion, because that is how they ended in real life.

How to read these notes

• Doses, thresholds and numeric values carry a primary source. Statements that carry no source are general background, and are written as such — not as recommendations.
• Each note shows when it was published, when it was last edited, and when it was last checked against its sources. Medical content goes stale; the dates are there so you can judge it.
• Guidelines are cited by edition. If an edition has been superseded since a note was checked, the note is out of date until the check date says otherwise.
• No patient information appears anywhere on this site.
